About the MMSSN (Montreal Muslim Social Services Network)

Montreal is fortunate to be home to a large Muslim community, which has been estimated by some to consist of about 350,000 people. These include recent immigrants, second and third generation immigrants who for all intents and purposes are Canadians, and other indigenous Canadians who have converted to Islam. With Quebec's policy to attract more immigrants, this number is likely to rise in the next few years.

While the growing number of Muslims has resulted in more mosques, Muslim businesses, and more importantly greater acceptance, it has also given rise to a growing number of social problems faced by different segments of the community. Alhamdulillah, some concerned individuals have responded to these problems by offering different types of social services at an individual level as well as by creating social services organizations with specific mandates.

The Montreal Muslim Social Services Network or the MMSSN is a forum that seeks to build communication channels between these organizations and individuals so that they may be able to achieve greater coordination and synergy in their efforts.
